I was inspired to pull out my old scratched LP’s again and see what I could make. I have made bowls, mail holders and bracelets, but I haven’t made earrings yet. I tried making circular ones, but they were hard to cut in a true circle, I made triangle ones, but I wasn’t thrilled with the way they came out. I had my ring mandrel on my workbench and I wrapped a strip of hot vinyl around it and I thought it was cute. I couldn’t resist making a few sets, small and medium sized.
No playable records were hurt in the making of these earrings!
If you would like to learn more about repurposing your old vinyl, my previous post is here.
I dug out my very old record player today and decided to play some of my ancient vinyls that I have been storing for 30 plus years. I was expecting to hear the sweet sound of a vinyl record spinning on a turntable playing the music that I love, but all I heard was scratches and skips.
Since I hate to throw anything away, I decided to go to Pinterest and see what everyone was making with their old vinyl records. I can’t believe how many ideas I found, and now I have the bug. I thought I would share a few of the things I made this morning….
Vinyl bowl using this tutorial, I also painted a chipped martini glass black and added it as a base…
Record Album Mail Organizer using this tutorial…
Vinyl Bracelet using this tutorial…
I made other things also, but I need to explore drilling holes and polishing edges on vinyl first, my fingers are crossed that they don’t break.
Have you ever made anything from old records?
