re-purpose your old candles

I always have candles from Yankee Candle and Bath and Body that have burned down to about 1/4 of a candle left.  It seemed like such a waste to throw them away, and the containers are always so nice.  Why waste them?

I have a few old pots that I use for candle making, and I fill one with water and bring to a low boil.  Put your glass container in the pot and let it melt down.  While it is melting, prepare an empty jar with a pre-tabbed wick, available at your local craft store for about $3.00.  I usually put a dot of melted wax under the tab, to secure it, and secure the wick in the center of the top with a clip, so it stays in the center.

When your candle is melted, pour the melted wax into your prepared candle, and repeat until you have a new candle.  Be careful that your scents and colors complement one another 🙂

Enjoy your new candle, and remember, it was almost free !

  1. My mum used to melt left-over bits of candle & pour them into plastic cups to make new candles, then cut the plastic cup off when it had solidified – this looks like a much more attractive way of doing it!
